Congratulations to Lesley Smith who plays at The Church House Congleton who is crowned England / Wales National Champion.
The event took place on Saturday 20th November at The Circus Casino, Stoke-on-Trent where a free buffet of a “Sunday dinner on a Saturday” was provided by the Casino to get the day off to a good start. With 260 competitors the day started with some announcements from TNPL founder Steve Bellis which will appear later in this newsletter.
With a £10,000 prize pool up for grabs including a prestigious APAT seat for the 2011 calendar, play started at 2.15pm when the dealers were told to “shuffle up and deal”.
Whilst the event was in the early stages a collection of small change was made where the players were asked to donate all loose change below 50p for Children in Need. This raised £270.98 for a very worthwhile cause. Thank you all.

New Shop launch next week
We are happy to report that The Nuts shop is having a re-fit and will be launched next week. This will mean that the shop will be closed for two days during refurbishment work (change of servers).
To celebrate we will be offering 20% off everything in the shop for all of December.
Delivery will be only a couple of days, so you can get your last minute Christmas Presents just in time.
Hows about this for a hand?
Norfolk / Suffolk regional. Worthy of a mention.
The first hand was the highlight of the day, three all in’s on the same table, Pocket Aces v Pocket Kings v Pocket Queens. First card on the flop was the Queen of Diamonds followed by diamond, diamond, turn was a diamond and the river, you guessed it a diamond. No one held a diamond in their hand so the board played and a split pot was declared.
Changes to the England / Wales main event structure for 2011.
We have listened to all of the feedback from the regional and national events and will be making a change to the way we organise the England / Wales main events in 2011.
The Nuts understands that it is quite a trek to Stoke-on-Trent for an increasing number of players in the south of the country. So in May 2011 we will be staging the Main Event over two days, with day 1 being in Gala Casino Bristol and day 2 in Stoke-on-Trent later in the month.
The final allocation of seats for each event will become clearer as we progress into 2011. As ever we want to make it easy for players so the last few players will make the final table on day 2. The exact number will depend upon the amount of players in each event and will be shared on a proportional basis. The players making it through to day 2 will receive money towards expenses in getting to Stoke.
To make sure this is fair the day 1 players will be given the % age of chips they finished with in Bristol, which will be converted to the chips in play on day 2. e.g. If a player finishes day 1 with 30% of chips in play in Bristol, they will be given 30% of the chips in play on day 2.
